Did you ever hear of Kopi Luwak, the most expensive coffee in the world ? And about how it's produced ? I had never heard of it... and then Indonesia happenned! I wanted to talk about that because - despite the fact that it's not very ethical - I fell in love with the animals that produce de coffee beans : the Luwaks!

Here's a sleepy one!

Their real name ? Asian palm civet or toddy cat. I prefer Luwak! It's like a cute long bodied cat with roundish ears and a longer nose. The ones that they have in different Kopi Luwak shops are, of course, domesticated and they are so sweet, gentle and curious. So, the Civets love fruits, that is why they eat the coffee cherries - apparently they are very selective and eat only the best or ripest ones. Then, they digest the whole thing and in their poops are the coffee beans!!! People then collect the poop, wash it carefully 10 000 times - hope so!- and there comes a nice flavourful cup of coffee! Funny uh ? So I tried a couple ones in different places and, indeed, it's a good coffee - and no it doesn't taste like shit!-. Buying some is actually very expensive, for a small bag you pay almost 35$CAD... LOL! So I was just happy petting the Luwaks and watching them play and eat bananas!

Would you try some of that coffee ?
