koh tao thailand diving anchor blog

Diving Oh yeahhhhh!!! As you must know, Thailand, especially Koh Tao, is famous for it's good and cheap diving certifications. I somehow managed to control my fears and set myself a nice adventure leading to my SSI Open Water Certification. I am so proud of myself for finally achieving this dream of mine. I did not encounter any major adversity such as shark or dark waters so it all went for the best. I already knew that I am comfortable in the water, I have always loved being in the water but I had to overcome that fear of immensity that I've been carrying like a burden. It is still not tomorrow that I would go meet with shark or even dive in the middle of the ocean... HELL NO. Let's just say that I took a step forward and that's enough for me. I am now certified and able to dive at a maximum depth of 18 meters. If someday I wish to, I can go further, or should I say deeper, by taking the Advanced SSI course. This course would train me so I can dive to a depth of 30 meters. I believe I will add that to my bucket list for the simple reason that I saw a ship wreck, only from the top and I would love to go and explore the inside of it which sits to deep for me to go now... Someday :)

Okay, now, it's time for some advertising -no strings attached, just cause I loved the place-! LA BOMBONA DIVING --> See it in My Addresses & Reviews <-- This is where I decided to sign up for my Open Water, after thoroughly reading reviews online. Needless to say, I am so happy with my choice! They are an awesome team!!! The "bosses" are super friendly but also very professional. The team is so fun to be around and awesome divers. Everything was clearly explained to us and if we had question on the theory we could ask anytime and get a complete answer. Everything there is made to be reassuring and insure that you can enjoy your dives to the fullest, with your skills developed at their best. The practice happens in a 3 levels pool and again, it's perfect. You can practice your buoyancy, your breathing, air sharing with you buddy, etc. All of that in a totally controlled and enclosed environment. Only when you are fully comfortable with everything, you must get out of the pool. Then comes diiiiiiivvvviiiinnnngggg! The real fun begins! I felt in safe hands at all times and I could enjoy my dives and practice my newly learned skills underwater. Simply perfect. We were 2 for 1 instructor on the final dives and pool training and 3 for 1 on the 2 first dives. Iris, our awesome instructor was great, she could managed to help us with our fears and little panics and had us have one of the greatest time ever. The way they work has nothing to do with what you might have heard about Koh Tao and it's "diver factory". If you are heading to the island, I strongly advise you to e-mail them right away and they will answer all your questions and welcome you like a family member!
