The town of El Nido itself is okay... not more than that. There is a lot of shops, a big choice of restaurants and a small beachfront. I believe you need to book in advance if you want a nice but cheap place to spend your nights because we didn't and the choices we had were expensive and gross. Haha! Or maybe it's a little bit because we just went to paradise and now we have to lower our standards drastically! Anyways, staying at Austria's Place is about 30$CAD per night for one double room with a shared bathroom that has no toilet seat. The room is bright green and we saw -only- 2 huge cockroaches, one in the bathroom and one in the room. Needless to say, I didn't have a good sleep. The bad experience I had in Gili T, Indonesia, is more traumatic than I thought! Haha! Now I laugh at it and I hope I will sleep better tonight! -UPDATE: Which I did! But, still, 30$CAD per night for THAT... not worth it!!!-
Island Hopping! That's what I did today! It was pretty amazing! All those islands at the north of Palawan are majestic. Big cliffs, pristine forests & corals. We took TOUR C. Was supposed to be TOUR A, which includes more snorkelling spots, but it was late -or call it Filipino time!- so we managed to go on another one! :) TOUR C has 2 great snorkelling spots and 3 sightseeing spots... all of the spots are AMAZING! It's simply beautiful! The cliffs are high and all different and the waters are clear and they give place to many beautiful coral formation! Nemoooo, I saw him again and again :) Anyways, snorkelling was great but just the different hidden gems that we saw are SO worth it! Got pictures to prove it! :)

My recommendations for El Nido :
Spin designer hostel! Heard only good about it but it was full so I couldn't book.
Art Cafe for a pizza - a little expensive but SO GOOD!
Island hopping Tour A or C
THE cafe - you have to find it corner of main resto street and main way to beach- for Nutella Crepes and Mango Shakes! :)
L'Jodec Resto-Bar for Wi-Fi and a cheap, but yummy, eat & drink! The 1L Red Horse is 120pesos!
Enjoy!
